FAM summons Idana, Sanudi
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) last week summoned Silver Strikers midfielder Chimwemwe Idana and Mighty Wanderers defender Stanley Sanudi over their alleged disciplinary breach after the Flames’ 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Senegal in Bamako.
The duo has not been called for national duties since October last year after the Flames 4-0 defeat when they were accused of breaking protocol by storming the Lions of Teranga’s dressing room to ask for a jersey from Sadio Mane.

Since then, they have missed seven Flames’ competitive matches.
Both Silver and Wanderers confirmed the summoning of their players by FAM in separate interviews.
Silver chief executive officer (CEO) Patrick Chimimba said: “I can confirm that he [Idana] was called for a counselling and guidance session.
“We released the player to attend the said session and we gather that they met Mr [Peterkins] Kayira and Mr [Dave] Mpima, but we are yet to get a report of what transpired in the session and the way forward.”
On his part, the Nomads’ CEO Panganeni Ndovi said: “We gather that they were only called to ask them to explain what happened. The outcome of the meeting has not been communicated to us.”
Idana confirmed having been summoned, saying: “They just asked us to explain what transpired and we did.”
FAM general secretary Alfred Gunda had not responded to our questionnaire on whether it was a disciplinary session.
